West Stow Country Park, Suffolk
Based on excavations of an early Anglo-Saxon settlement dating to the fifth century, an Anglo-Saxon village has been recreated at West Stow near Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk. Visitors can explore the buildings and watch recreations of Anglo-Saxon life going on around them. There is also an Anglo-Saxon centre with displays illustrating life during the fifth, sixth and seventh centuries. The village is set in an attractive country park, which has a children's play area and a cafe. There are walking trails through varied landscapes in the park.
