Stockwood Park Museum, Bedfordshire

Human kind's relationship with the natural world is one of the most important themes of modern times. This changing relationship is well illustrated by the history of gardens. Stockwood Park Museum near Luton is an award winning museum illustrating nine hundred years of garden history. There are displays on rural life and crafts, and period gardens, which include an Elizabethan knot garden and a Victorian garden. The museum also houses Britain largest collection of horse drawn vehicles, dating from Roman times to the 1930s. A programme of events runs through out the year, which includes school activities to support the national curriculum.

There is a tearoom and shop.

Opening Times: The museum is currently closed for development work and will re-open as Stockwood Park Discovery Centre in July 2008. Tours of the site are still available on March 30th at 1.30pm, 2.30pm and 3.30pm. These are free but booking is required on 01582 738714.
