Museum of London

The Museum of London sits on the site of Aldersgate, one of the old gates into the walled city of London. A section of the walls, originally built by the Romans, and surviving into medieval times, can be seen beside the museum.

The museum houses over a million items related to the history of London. The display is arranged chronologically. You begin with a film describing this part of Britain before London existed. The film takes you all the way back to the Ice Ages, when the ice front advanced into what is now north London.
