Museum of London

The Museum of London sits on the site of Aldersgate, one of the old gates into the walled city of London. A section of London's walls, originally built by the Romans, and surviving into medieval times, can be seen beside the museum.

The museum houses over a million items related to London history. Displays are arranged chronologically. You begin during the Ice Ages, when the ice front advanced into what is now north London. Walking on through the museum, displays illuminate all periods following the Roman founding of London. There are artifacts, models, and recreations of whole streets from the London of the past. The museum also has an intersting collection of items exploring the history of fashion.
