The King's Head, Aylesbury
The King's Head in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, was originally the hospice of a local monastery, offering accommodation to pilgrims. In the fifteenth century it became an inn, and then developed into a coaching inn, as seen in the archway built wide enough to take carriages. Parts of the present building date from 1450.
The King's Head is now owned by the National Trust. It is also a working pub and is open all year during licensing hours. There are tours on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 2pm. The King's Head can be found in Aylesbury's market square.
