The original Blickling Hall was owned by the Boleyn family, and a number of Boleyn children were born here. Anne Boleyn, second wife of Henry the Eighth seems to have come along after the family's move to Hever. However, there is a portrait at Blicking with an inscription claiming Blicking as the birth place of the woman who had such a far reaching on the course of British history. The present Blickling Hall was built in the reign of James the First by the powerful Hobart family.with a formal garden and a park. There are many art works in the house. The library houses perhaps the most important private collections in the country. This library was once the home of the Blickling Homilies, one of the earliest surviving examples of English vernacular writing, dating from the tenth century.

The garden and parks are lovely places for walks, and reflect the seventeenth century preoccupation wirth formal garden design.. Dogs are welcome on leads in the park.
