BMW Mini Factory
BMW Mini Factory, Oxfordshire
The BMW factory near Cowley, just outside Oxford, produced 189,492 Minis in 2004. Each one was built using the latest precision engineering equipment. Tours of this facility are available. Please note that people with pacemakers, and the under fourteens are not allowed on the tour. No open toe shoes, high heels or sandals can be worn. This is an active factory environment of energy, movement and noise. Welding equipment can create sparks of fifteen feet in length.
Directions: The Cowley plant is on the A4142 south of Oxford.
Access: All parts of the tour are accessible for people in wheelchairs. Visitors with pacemakers cannot be admitted and neither can children under 14 years. Protective coat and goggles must be worn. It is advised that visits are booked at least three months ahead of desired date as these tours are very popular.
