The Angel, Guildford, Surrey

The Angel in Guildford's High Street was well known as a seventeenth century coaching inn, although it's history stretches back to the thirteenth century. The present building dates to 1500. Lord Nelson and Jane Austen have stayed at the Angel, using the inn to break their journey from London to the south of England. The Angel still has its coaching clock dating from 1685.

According to their website The Angel entered administration during June 2009, it therefore may no longer be possible to stay here. Please ring for up to date information on 01908 847551.
