Historic Accommodation In Chester: The Chester Grosvenor And Spa
The Chester Grosvenor and Spa, a Grade 2 listed building, was built in 1845 in the heart of historic Chester. The hotel is owned by and named after the family of the Duke of Westminster. Chester has unique architecture in its famous rows. Historians believe that when the Romans left Britain in the early fifth century the rubble of their buildings strewn along each side of Chester's street was used as the foundation for new buildings. Buildings were built into and on top of the banks of rubble, eventually leading to the raised galleries of the rows today. The Chester Grosvenor and Spa sits right in the middle of this historic area.
This is one of the finest hotels in the north of England, and is one of only a handful of hotels outside London to have been awarded five red AA stars. Dining, facilities and accommodation are of the highest order.
